MODEL:Bronco
SERIES:81 to 87 4.9-5.8L
PROBLEM:Rough Idle
POSSIBLE CAUSE:This may be caused by a revision made to the wiring harness. Vehicles built before 1989 had a diode in the air bi-pass valve wiring harness. New replacement valves had a 3D marking on the plastic portion of the solenoid above the connector cap. This indicates that the diode is fitted in the air bypass valve (not the harness). If the wiring harness is reversed the valve will not work. To rectify rough idle problems, reverse the wires in the air bypass valve connector.
