How To Take A Holden Key Apart
Keys these days aint what they used to be. Nearly ALL modern vehicles use what is called a "Transponder Key", this means the key has a micro chip in the plastic part that is matched to the vehicles BCM (Body Control Module).
For surfers and other people who love the water these keys ARE NOT WATERPROOF!!. Holden Keys are the easiest to get going again...the others, well good luck!.

| If you took your Holden key for a surf or just got it wet, here is how to get yours working again, well for a spare anyway.... | Step 1.Remove the key end by taking out the two little screws | Step 2. Using a large screwdriver wedge the two halves apart by twisting the screw driver, it takes a little effort so don't be scared to give it a good twist!. |

| Step 4. Inspect the circuit board, it will look worse than this one, like its been on the bottom of the ocean for years! | Step 5. Spray loads of WD-40 through the circuits and blow out with compressed air or allow to dry. | Step 6. Using electrical tape or Super Glue, attach the two halves again and re fit the metal key head. When completed this will be ok for a spare or to get you out of trouble. |
